Ryan ArmbrusterRyan Armbruster is recognized for his knowledge and experience in collaborative design of services that anticipate human needs, humanize technology and deliver tangible business value. He built and directed the SPARC Innovation Program for Mayo Clinic, a first-of-its kind program for designing and developing remarkable healthcare services and recently led the cultural and strategic transformation of Oncure from traditional business services to customer-centered services as Senior Vice President and Chief Experience Officer.

Ryan has delivered numerous invited presentations on service design and innovation for leading national conferences and companies such as Target, Starbucks and Edward Jones. In addition, he is an accomplished educator with experience developing and teaching Masters-level courses and numerous workshops focused on service innovation, design, and customer experiences.

Ryan earned a Masters in Healthcare Administration with an emphasis on New Product Design and Business Development from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. His prior experiences include consulting and new business development for companies including Deloitte Consulting, United Health Group and Medtronic.

Talk: The Business Value of Service Design

Design research and methods hold great potential to enhance and improve today's service economy, however, the application of these tools is greatly underutilized across service industries. In this session, Ryan will share his experience with the hurdles and misconceptions held by service organizations that are not currently leveraging design research, and how the design industry can better communicate value and persuade service organizations to adopt, support and appropriately apply these methods.
