personal statement
Hello, I'm a born strategist and people person. I see natural connections and relationships within the most mundane of conversations and look for ways to turn those connections into opportunities. My background is in communication design and advertising in New York City. I have rich professional experience in health care; non-profits; and in engaging youth. I am especially interested in creating meaningful innovation (experience, product or service) through qualitative research and strategic design planning. I just completed research and conceptual designs for future kitchen appliances (Indesit Co., Italy). When I am not working I like to travel, sail and paint.
project 2: CeaseFire Community Campaign for Violence Prevention
Communication strategies to accelerate behavior change within violent neighborhoods. CeaseFire Chicago addresses violence as an epidemic, not a dispute between good and bad people but a behavioral disease that can be eradicated. The goal of this project was to address the thinking of the low risk community that underlies the social norms and behaviors perpetuating the transmission of violence at the individual and community level. The research plan included observations; intercept, community and expert interviews; card sorting. The resulting strategy is a participatory communications platform designed to build bridges that decrease fear and improve public safety within the community. Central to this strategy are the credible messengers that build trust and partnerships within the community defining the community’s role to increase the peace. Currently in first stage of implementation.

project 3: New Options Initiative: Out-of-School Youth Career Exposure Prototype
We prototyped and conducted real-world career exposure experiences to inspire out-of-school-youth to action countering the negative affects of dropping out of high school. Outcomes: We identified key success factors; proved prototype successfully; identified additional touch-points and facilitation strategies and systems.
