Freelance work
In addition to my academic work, and to supplement my meager student income, I try to get as many freelance design jobs as I can. It is a plan that seldom works out as I'd like... but over the past few years, I have been able to eke out a modest income and fair little folio of projects. They are listed here for review.
Akiba-Schechter Jewish Day School Website
For this project, I designed the look and feel of the web presence for the Akiba-Schechter Jewish Day School, in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. I was responsible for all layout elements and interaction—primary and secondary navigation—as well as developing a cascading style sheet to drive the layout.

Yet Another Perl Conference 2006 Website
This was quite a quick project, with the conference organizers requesting more of a shell to place content to be generated later. I developed the identity elements and the basic web site layout and navigation, as well as some information heirarchy elements. This site is also purely CSS driven.

Another short project, in which I took a sketch of a logo for a start-up clothing design company, and rendered it digitally using Freehand. This conversion resulted in the creation of an EPS to maximize the versitility of the logo, in terms of usage and placement.

Optimates Team-Blog Visual Design
Optimates is a team-blog on Blogger.com for discussion of social, political, environmental and non-sensical topics. After operating for a time under a pre-designed template, I developed and implemented a new stylesheet and information differentiation guidelines, working within Blogger's proprietary code and JavaScript.

Photo-realistic Vector Caricatures
During Spring Break of 2005, three of my friends and I went to Colorado for a ski trip. We decided to make t-shirts. I developed photo-realistic vector drawings/caricatures of everyoneincluding myself (second from right), as well as the mountain background.
