As a surfer climbs onto his surfboard to ride out a large approaching wave rather than be crushed beneath it, so has Larry Clarkberg climbed into the program at the Institute of Design to ride the advancing wave of computing and communications technology. Last year he finished preparatory work in design and this year begins work on a Masters of Design degree. Although his focus at ID is communication design, he discovered latent skills in product design and won a prize in an international product design competition. His other projects at ID include the gameMaker educational game creation system for teachers, and a prototype online library catalog interface. Larry holds a degree in physics from Reed college, and has worked as a technical writer for six years. More details can be found on his home page.
