Infection Controlan ongoing project with University of Chicago hospitals
Problem
Hospitals are a breeding ground for several antibiotic resistant bacteria, such as MRSA, C-Diff and VRE. These bacteria are especially dangerous for immunosuppressed hospital patients.
These viruses are transmitted through direct skin contact, so using alchol rubs or soap and water reduce contamination. However, with so many pieces of shared equipment and increasingly busy hospital personell, hand hygiene compliance rates are consistently low.
Solution
We are currently in the process of discovering solutions for infection control. These solutions are based on our experiences while observing nurses, doctors, and other hospital personel during their daily routines.
