Inspiration

The flower symbol is used for the overall
shape of the object and dandelion was the
direct inspiration for the interface. The time
units on the display “fly away” as the petals
of the dandelion blown by the wind.

The main idea of this cooking timer is to make
it fit in all places of the home, especially in
the dinning table not only in the kitchen, as it
was previously used. In this way, the user
can stay away from the kitchen for a longer
time, and when friends and guests are
invited she/he can offer them more attention
and enjoy the time instead of going back
and fourth from living to the kitchen to check
the food. After its main function is over, it
can also serve as a decorative object
on the table.

The interface of the timer consists of an LCD
transparent disc and the display is divided in
12 equal parts, each represents 5 minutes.

1, 2. To set the time the user turns the dial
situated in the lower part of the object.
3. In the same time the dial is turned, the
display shows the number units (minutes)
selected. After each 5 minutes, one unit on
the screen will go off (counterclockwise).
When the period expires, a sound alarm will
sound to alert the user.
4. The round button in the middle of the display
is the reset button. It is used for stopping the
alarm and for resetting the time to the initial
stand-by position.

The support
Variations on the
interface of the timer
It’s a one-piece aluminium object
that is used both for securing the
timer during transport and acts as
a support for it.
It has two opposite sides, each
can hold the timer in a different
posture (vertically and horizontally).
Both sides have the logo of the
giver imprinted and, for a more
distinct personalization for a
specific company, the interior of
the support can be colored with
the same color used for the logo.
